The Laundry Limbo

Laundry is one of the biggest problems in housework. I have heard it called "Mount Never Rest." and that discribes it in most homes.

I have recently discovered, through some ample blog reading, you know, while I should have been folding laundry, a system that really works, even with my large family.

Do One Load of Laundry Every Day

 That's it.

Ok, that probably sounds WAAAAAAYYYYY too simple for such a monumental problem. So I'll explain:

The average family dirties less than one load of laundry per day. Even my over-sized family only dirties two, and half mine do their own laundry. So Hubby, 3 kids, linens, and I come to less than one load.

Every day.

So, if you want to control you laundry, wash, dry, fold and put up one load everyday.

Let the machines sit empty the rest of the time.

Do that load even if it isn't a full load. It's worth it.

Since I have focused on doing one load a day, everyday (except Sunday) I have not been behind and laundry is almost an after thought.

I'm even considering taking some shelves out of the laundry room I had put in there to handle all the volume I used to store in there.

Now, for the Limbo:

Put a new load in the washer. If you can do this before bed you get a jump on the next day. I can't seem to get there, but good for you if you can! When the washer quits (set a timer if it doesn't have it's own bell unless you are starting it at night)...

Put what’s in the washer into the dryer. When it quits...

Fold the clothes in the dryer and put up them up.
Thank God you don’t have to wash your clothes on a rock at the river! In fact, you don’t have to wash them at all. The machines do that. All you have to do is pay a little attention to your machines.
If you wash one full load of laundry a day, eventually you will get caught up and stay that way. If you get sick or go an vacation and get behind, no big deal! Just do one load a day until you are caught up again.

It really is that simple.
