I know this isn't exactly the most viewed blog in the universe, but I do watch my stats regularly. I know there about 30-40 of you who visit this site everyday or so. I wanted to let you know I really appreciate you taking the time to keep up with me and listen to my ramblings.
In order to show my appreciation, I have been thinking of sharing links to some of my favorite products; things that really help my family and make our life better. I hope the information helps you, too.

Kirby vacuum cleaners
My mom had one of these while I was growing up. I watched that thing pick up drywall dust from our constant renovations for years. In fact, I've see it pick up nails with out pause (I do NOT recommend that! It was an accident. Honest, Mom). That vacuum was a real workhorse for years. The day did come though, when my mom wanted to try some of the new innovations in vacuums that had come out and passed-on her Kirby.
A couple of years ago my $200 walmart vacuum died on me. I was going through a vacuum every 2-3 years, so it wasn't the least bit of a surprise. It is just too hard on a vac to keep up with our big family in our small house.
But I was so fed up with constantly replacing the things I cried out to God; "I want a Kirby! There is no way on earth we could ever afford one (new ones cost more than we paid for my car!), but that is what I want, God." Then I went about making plans to buy a vac next time I went to Walmart. But before I got there...
Someone left a Kirby with all its attachments in front of our church.
And I was the only one in the congregation who was in real need of a vac at the time.
So now I have a Kirby myself:-) It has been a good six (7?) years and all I've had to do is one small service job on it. And man! could I tell a difference while using a loaner when it was in the shop! The nearly-new loaner was such a wimp!
This vac has made a difference in my family, to be sure. It is well worth the purchase price, though it is much cheaper on the secondhand market (my brother bought one on ebay for about $300)
Oh, and my mom got a brand new Kirby for Christmas this year and is thrilled:-)
The Old Schoolhouse
All occupations have their trade magazines. Homeschoolers are no different.I went a few years without really reading anything to do with homeschooling and began to burn out badly. Now I am reading This Old School House magazine. I feel so much more encouraged and excited to be teaching my kiddos. Just the ads are worth the time:-) not to mention all the great articles. And this company has many, many resources available through them. I highly recommend this magazine to anyone in the homeschooling world.
(This IS an affiliate link. I get a small part of anything you buy, but that is incidental. I think you need to read this even if you don't buy anything. Each bi-monthly issue is available on the internet for free:-)
