The Thanksgiving Dance.

*Step 1: When your alarm rings in the morning, get up and turn it off and thank God you woke up this morning.

*Step 2: Brush your teeth, shower and dress while thanking God for running water, a warm house, clothes and toothpaste (none of which millions of people on this planet have.)

*Step 3: Spend 15 minutes in prayer. Begin by thanking God for the ability and privilege to pray. You won’t go to jail in this country for that. (It helps me to keep a prayer journal on my smart phone.)

*Step 4: Read your Bible for 15 min. Remember to thank God that you are able to read, can afford a Bible and can legally buy one!

Step 5: Do the Laundry Limbo

*Step 6: Fix breakfast for you family. Even if it is just putting the bowls, spoons, milk, and cereal boxes on the table. Thank God you have food to give your children. Not all moms do.

*Step 8: Make all the beds. Thank God you don’t have to sleep on the floor and that you have warm blankets.

Step 9: Get a big trash bag. Begin in the master bedroom filling it with trash. Thank God for the invention of Kleenex, newspapers, ice cream, etc as you put each item in the bag. Thank God you have a place to send your trash and don’t have to go out and bury it! When the bag is full tie it up and set it by the door to take out.

Step 10: Get a laundry basket and fill it with dirty clothes. Take it to the laundry room. Thank God you live in a time and place where you and your family own more than one change of clothes, unlike most throughout history.

Step 11: Get another basket/box. Fill it with dirty dishes and take it to the kitchen.. Thank God you are able to walk, strong enough to carry things, and can afford the food that dirtied those dishes. Put those dishes in the dishwasher.

Step 12: Fill a box with stuff that doesn’t belong in your bedroom, and put them where they do go. Thank God for each item or the person who gave it to you.

Step 13: Vacuum all the carpets you can reach. Thank God for warm toes on cold mornings.

If you have done all of one step in your bedroom you can and still have room in the bag or basket, move on to the next room. If you stay faithful in your morning dance, you will eventually be able to do the whole house in an hour (give or take depending on its size).

Thus ends your morning dance.
